Versailles

Okay, since Heather is being a lame ass tired and refusing to write any blog posts (she instead sits behind me and edits my typos as I write), I am writing another post.
A few days ago (May 8th, I think) we sprung bright eyed and bushy tailed out of bed in an effort to get to Versailles, the palace of our dreams. That is a complete lie. We actually slept through breakfast and got kicked out of our room by the maid, at which point we decided we better get as far as possible from that woman, as she was holding the bleach in an especially menacing way.
We actually did want to go to Versailles, though, which for all of you who aren't Paris and French history obsessed like Heather and I, is a BIG ASS palace just outside of Paris. And let me tell you something about this place- it is VERY subtly decorated (sarcmark). Please note the gates:
They were big fans of the bling bling
Okay, so we spent something close to five hours touring this place, looking at all the pretty, pretty furniture and rooms, and then walked through the gardens for three hours, where we got lost and presumably ended up in Portugal. It was a long walk. However, we did get ice cream, which was AWESOME. The only thing we couldn't figure out was where the music was coming from. It was very bizarre. So, anyways, although I would describe this place for you, using phrases like "enormous", "DEAR GOD HOW DID THEY DO THAT??" and "um. woah." gets rather gauche fast. So in the words of someone-or-other "a picture is worth a thousand words"
sidenote: how much would I have loved to hand in a couple English essays this past year with a picture of a stick man on it. "You want six thousand words- HERES TEN PICTURES. thats right- ten THOUSAND words......" "No, no an A+ is fine, I know that you can't go any higher than that."
BUT I DIGRESS:
"Um... BIG and GOLD"

I WANT THIS LIBRARY

the famous hall of mirrors

Not really sure what he was doing here... but he was cute. We named him Jaques.

  6. Nope its not owned by the Hapsburgs- They had control over the Holy Roman Empire. However, Marie Antoinette, the last French Queen, was originally from Austria, and her mother (then later her brother) were the rulers of the Holy Roman Empire at the time.
